As a new type of friction stir welding, Bobbin self-supporting welding technology is a supplement to the traditional friction stir welding. The top and bottom surface of workpiece can be welded simultaneously with Bobbin shoulder tool, and there is no rigid supports for the back of the product during welding process. The lack of penetration or root defects can be fundamentally eliminated. It is especially suitable for the splicing of long straight hollow profiles and the splicing of barrel longitudinal seams.
