For the material with large thickness, friction stir welding can avoid the problem of multi-pass welding faced in the traditional friction stir welding, which greatly improves the welding efficiency. At the same time, reduces the input of the welding heat and improves welding performance. At present, AEE has successfully realized the large thickness welding with the material of 100mm aluminum alloy (single side), 35mm copper alloy (single side) and so on. The performance of the joint meets the usage requirements and is superior to the conventional fusion welding, which lays the foundation for further expansion of friction stir welding applications.
